Your information & your choices

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This privacy notice explains how Food Safety Consultancy UK uses personal information when you visit foodsafetyconsultancyuk.co.uk or contact us through this website. It also explains your choices and how to raise a privacy question.

Who we are and how to contact us

Food Safety Consultancy UK operates this website and is responsible for the personal information collected through it. We are a food safety consultancy based in London, supporting businesses across the UK.

For enquiries about your information, contact our team at info@foodsafetyconsultancyuk.co.uk or 07565 262 825. You can also use our Contact page.

Information you provide

Our contact form asks for your name, email address, telephone number, establishment name if you choose to provide it, and your message. We receive the information you choose to share when you contact us by email, telephone or WhatsApp.

We use this information to understand your enquiry, respond to you, discuss our services and prepare a suitable proposal. If you engage us, we also use relevant business contact details and correspondence to arrange and deliver the agreed support.

Please provide only information relevant to your enquiry. Avoid sending unnecessary personal information about employees, customers or other people, or sensitive health information, through a general enquiry form.

Website and security information

Our website and hosting systems process technical information needed to provide and protect the site. This can include IP addresses, requested pages, dates and times, browser and device information, and records of errors or suspicious activity.

We use WordPress, Ninja Forms for website enquiries, and security tools including Wordfence. Enquiries are sent to our business inbox. Form-submission records and email-delivery logs may also be stored within the website to help us handle enquiries and investigate delivery problems.

Wordfence helps detect and prevent malicious activity. Its services may process relevant technical and security information. See Wordfence’s privacy notice.

Website statistics

We use Burst Statistics, installed within our WordPress website, to understand how the site is used and improve it. This includes information about page visits, referral sources, general device/browser information and successful enquiry submissions.

Burst is configured in its cookieless mode, using a daily anonymous identifier rather than an analytics cookie or a persistent browser fingerprint. It is not configured to recognise visitors across different days or sessions. We also enable its support for browser “Do Not Track” requests. This does not mean that the website’s separate hosting, security or enquiry systems collect no personal information.

Cookies, forms and external services

The website uses cookies or similar technologies for functions such as remembering cookie preferences, website administration and security. You can review available choices through the website’s cookie controls and manage or delete cookies through your browser. Blocking some technologies may affect how features work. Burst analytics is configured without an analytics cookie.

Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to help prevent automated submissions. Google may process network, device, browser and interaction information for this purpose. Its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to that service. You can contact us by email or telephone if you prefer not to use the online form.

If you choose a WhatsApp link, visit Instagram or follow another external link, you interact with that provider under its own privacy notice. Those providers control their own services and technologies.

Blog comments

If you submit a comment where comments are available, the comment and associated name may be displayed publicly if approved. WordPress also processes the details entered in the comment form and technical information, such as IP address and browser information, to help manage comments and detect spam. Please do not put private or sensitive information into a public comment.

Why we use information

  • Enquiries and proposals: to take steps you request before entering a contract, or for our legitimate interests in responding to business enquiries and communicating with people representing a business.
  • Agreed services: to perform a contract with you, or for our legitimate interests in delivering services to the organisation you represent.
  • Website administration, security and limited usage statistics: for our legitimate interests in operating, protecting and improving the website, taking account of your interests and rights.
  • Legal requirements: where processing is necessary to comply with an applicable legal obligation.
  • Consent: where consent is required for a particular optional use or technology. You may withdraw consent at any time; this does not affect processing carried out lawfully before withdrawal.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests, including the website usage statistics described above. Contact us using the details in this notice.

Who information is shared with

Information may be accessed by authorised members of our team and by providers supporting our website, hosting, maintenance, email delivery, backups and security. Access should be limited to what is needed for the relevant task.

Where consultancy work requires information to be shared with a laboratory, professional adviser or relevant authority, the appropriate sharing will depend on the agreed work and any applicable legal requirements. We may also disclose information where the law requires it or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

Processing outside the UK

External providers, including Google and WhatsApp/Meta, may process information in countries outside the UK. Their privacy notices explain their processing and international-transfer arrangements. Where we arrange a transfer of personal information subject to UK data protection law, an appropriate legal transfer mechanism is required. Contact us if you would like more information about providers involved in handling your enquiry.

How long information is kept

The appropriate retention period depends on why the information was collected. For enquiries, this includes the time needed to respond, follow up on your request and resolve related questions. For client correspondence and records, it includes the duration of the work, relevant record-keeping obligations and the period reasonably needed to address complaints, disputes or legal claims.

Technical records, submission records, email logs and backups may have different retention cycles according to their operational and security purposes. Information should not be kept indefinitely just because it was collected. When deciding whether a record remains necessary, we consider its purpose, sensitivity, any continuing business relationship and applicable legal requirements. Contact us if you need information about a particular record.

Keeping information secure

We use measures intended to protect information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse, including HTTPS and website security monitoring. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure. Please contact us to discuss a suitable way to share information that is particularly confidential.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict processing, object to processing, and receive or transfer certain information in a portable format. These rights are subject to conditions and exemptions.

You have the right to object to direct marketing at any time. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. To make a request, contact our team using the details above. We may need proportionate information to confirm your identity, and we will respond within the period required by applicable law.

Concerns and complaints

Please contact us if you have concerns about how your information is handled. You can also raise a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as the website or our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. We will provide additional information about new uses of personal information where required.
